UDAIPUR BY CYCLE

Imagine... experiencing the great feeling of you on your bicycle in the colorful streets of Udaipur with Atulyam Tours!!

We believe, Udaipur is the city that reveals itself to you in different forms, from the narrow lanes of historic City to the one of most beautiful city in the world! There is however one good way to explore the City of Lakes to the fullest – CYCLING....

Our team is passionate about our City, its rich cultural history and its madness as we are about cycling.
We start early to avoid traffic and the heat of the day. Your group will be accompanied by two guides, one of whom with ride behind the group for extra safety.

Just as the first rays of the sun begins to light the city & prepares itself to come to life. Our tour starts from 0700 AM when the craziness of the day is still to come & people are still waking up.

Our tour will startfrom DudhTalai, contiguous to the beautiful Lake of Pichola, DudhTalai Lake is a dainty pond at the epicentre of the Udaipur. Encompassed by the marvelous hillocks all around, this lake holds out a charm within itself.

Here, we are introduced with the tour leader and the tour captains. The tour leader will give a short briefing about the tour and the route. We start riding towards old city.

Just in a while we enter the walled city, we ride through narrow streets of the city passing through vintage Havelis and several other architectural marvels.

Our First stop will be Jagdish Temple, located near the City Palace is a striking example of Hindu religious architecture comprised of beautifully carved pillars, decorated ceilings, painted walls and lush halls. With a massive gateway, three stories of hand carved stone, and a steeple nearly 79 feet high, Jagdish Temple is the largest temple in Udaipur, India. It was built in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh just two years before the end of his reign and dedicated to the Hindu god Lord Vishnu.

Next visit will be Gangaur Ghat. With its triple-arched Tripolia Gate stands as a magnificent piece of architecture. The most splendid sights you will see are the small structures and grandiose palaces on Lake Pichola’s islands. Each one more beautiful and with intriguing history to it.

You can see the washing sessions by women at the Ghat who find it the best time to catch up on gossip stories and a daily dose of reality show of life around them. Stop for a cup of Kulladchai from the local tea seller. These tiny bits of clay cups supposedly provide little extra earthy taste and feel to the tea.

Bringing the taste of India, the taste of soil of India! Nothing quite compare to drinking chai from one of these clay cups. Cradled in your hand a primitive cup and its warm dry rim on your lips, accompanied by an earthy smell and taste, it indeed strikes a rural chord deep down in our heart.

These Kullads are both, environment friendly and lot more hygienic than usual plastic or glass cups especially when you are having in a roadside shop.
After having your masalaKullad Chai, we cycle to the old city. This route is a true experiencing in total different worlds. Cycling by the narrow back-lanes of Old City, our cycles allow us to slowly explore the small side lanes of Udaipur as well as the city’s more spread out highlights all in one day.

Our next destination is Mahakaleshwar temple which is situated at the bank of FatehsagarLake surrounded by the lush green Aravali Hills. The temple is spread around 3.5 acres of land and great saints like Guru Gorakhnath, the dignified devotee of Lord Shiva, has worshipped here. The devotees have strong faith in Lord Shiva and every day huge number of devotees visits temple to have a glimpse of Mahakaleshwar.

We can offer flowers to lord Shiva.

After covering the historic part of the city, now spin your wheels to experience the beauty of Venice of the East.

You will drive across the famous Fatehsagar lake. Considered as the pride of Udaipur, One of the four lakes of the city, its blue waters and the backdrop of green has given the nickname of ‘second Kashmir’ to the city. Three small islands are located within the confines of the lake.

The source of water of the lake is the run-off emerging from surrounding hills. The lake is also fed by three inlet channels, along with an overflow section on the eastern side in the Masonry Dam. This pear-shaped lake is surrounded by the Aravalli Hills on three sides, with a straight gravity stone masonry dam on the eastern side.

At the end of the tour, once we’ve worked up a good appetite, we’ll stop for a traditional north Indian breakfast of chole puri, samosa and chai at Sukadia Circle.

As this lovely bicycle tour of the city ends here we part ways with a souvenir for you to show your friends back home when you share your Udaipur memoirs.
