There is no other country which juxtaposes old cultures and post-modern groups almost at the same time and space. On one hand, India is an economic superpower; the Maharajas of yore have yielded place to some of the wealthiest tycoons of the world. The country has achieved remarkable breakthroughs in aeronautical and space technologies and has become the hub of Information technology owing to its vast pool of English-knowing technical manpower. On the other hand, rural India is the India of age-old patterns where tradition is the principal dynamic of society, where outsiders come and go but life continues, often without much change hence India is a mysteriously diverse.

A land like no other, she offers countless eye-opening features and heart pumping adventures. This complete journey through North India covers Delhi, Agra and rural gems of Rajasthan leaving no stone unturned. Explore the areas that are off the beaten track and offer a more in depth experience of the destination for those with an eager interest in the Indian way of life. You will witness much more than forts and palaces, to local rural markets and amazing drives with your private driver through astonishing scenery.

The journey begins with a flight to Delhi. On arrival you’ll be met and transferred to your land markclassic hotel, Imperial. The first day in India will begin as per your convenience. You will choose from the al-carte experiences with a flexible private guide at your disposal. The Welcome dinner will arranged at one of the most exotic restaurants in the city.

Next morning take the Shatabdi Express to Agra (the fastest train in India). You’ll explore the city with your guide and visit the spectacular Taj Mahal. Later drive to Chambal which is superb at offering a mix of wildlife and the chance to see India at its most authentic. Your next stop is Ramathra Fort, one of the best historic forts of Rajasthan; it is now a boutique private retreat. Enjoy the peace and tranquility amidst countless things to see and do.

Continue overland on a little known off-road link between Ramathra and Ranthambore National Park which takes you through the buffer areas giving you a fantastic introduction to the wildlife of the park. Stay at one of the chic hotel called Khem Villas. Enjoy game drives by Jeeps (twice daily) to see the wildlife, including the Royal Bengal Tiger. Further continue to the majestic Pink City of Jaipur. Here you will stay at boutique palatial hotel called Samode Palace which is located close to Jaipur.

Explore the colorful capital of Rajasthan including the famous Amber Fort and City palace, before winding your way through the markets with your guide. From Jaipur we head into rural Rajasthan. You will stay at Chhatra Sagar, a stunning luxury camp located at one of the most beautiful locations in Rajasthan. Thejourney continues further to Mihirgarh, a private epitome of luxury. This will be your base to explore he Blue city of Jodhpur including the impressive Mehrangarh Fort.

You reach your final destination, the “Lake City” of Udaipur. Also known as Venice of the east, it is one of the most romantic cities in the world. Boasting of some fairy tale palaces and vintage museums, you will stay at the world famous Taj Lake Palace hotel. Udaipur is ideally connected. You will take a flight back either to Delhi or Bombay for your onward journey back home.

    Early morning transfer to New Delhi Railway station for your express train to Agra: (Shatabdi Express/06h00-08h00)

    Agra, the yesteryear capital of the mighty Mughal Empire is currently home to some of the world’s toptourist sites. Even if the idea of visiting what is arguably the world’s greatest 'monument to love' doesn’t appeal; there's actually more to see in Agra.
    Meet & greet on arrival at Agra Railway station and transfer to Taj Mahal.

    The Taj Mahal is one of mankind's greatestarchitectural feats. Built out of white marble by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, it was erected by 20,000 laborers over a 12-year period. The entire monument is a masterpiece of symmetry (Closed on Friday). Enjoy a Tonga (Horse drivencarriage)-one way ride to the monument (Note: TheTonga does not go up-to the monument. You need to walk a bit)

    Rules and regulations of Taj Mahal:
    - Arms, ammunition, fire, smoking items, tobacco products, liquor, food, chewing gum, knives, wire, mobile charger, electric goods (except video cameras, photography cameras and similar consumer electronic products like MP3 players, iPhones, Smartphones etc and music players) are prohibited inside the Taj Mahal complex. Leave these in the hotel or in your driver's car. Avoid carrying a bag altogether if you can as the bag scanning process is cumbersome. Playing cards, games, dice, etc. may be prohibited depending on the guard.
    - Mobile Phones are allowed. They don't really seem to enforce this with camera phones.
    - Eating and smoking is strictly prohibited inside the Taj Mahal complex.
    - Lockers are available at the gates to keep your belongings (of course, at your own risk).
    - Video camera (handicam) is allowed up to the red sand stone platform at the main entrance gate of the Taj Mahal complex. There is a charge of 25 Rupees per video camera.
    - Photography is prohibited inside the main mausoleum, and visitors are requested not to make noise inside the mausoleum.
    - Avoid touching and scratching the walls and surfaces of the monument as these are old heritage sites that need special care.
    - Tourists are allowed to carry a water bottle inside the monument.
    - Remember that the Taj Mahal is a religious site and it is best to dress conservatively when visiting the Taj Mahal complex, not only because the Taj Mahal itself is a mausoleum, but also because there are mosques inside the Taj Mahal complex, if you wish to visit them as well.
    Later continue to Chambal Safari Lodge (2 hour drive-approx).

    Your stay: Chambal Safari Lodge (Eco Tourism retreat): Set within 35 sprawling acres, the lodge is anoasis of peace, tranquility and gracious hospitality. The accommodation combines the warmth of local homes with the comfort of modern amenities. Every effort has been made to make this lodge as eco-friendly and sympathetic to its surroundings as possible including the Lodge kitchens which serve authentic ‘home cooked’ buffet meals with fresh organically grown ingredients or procured directly from the local farmers. Just a few miles away are a sanctuary for marsh Crocodiles, Gharial, ten types of Turtle, numerous unique bird species and rare Gangetic River Dolphin. You may wish to visit the impressive Bateshwar Temples or the stunning Fort Ater. At the lodge, they also offer the chance to do a range of exploringeither through a walking village safari, cycling or on jeeps.

    The opulent palaces, the pink sandstone structures, the imposing forts, the brilliant colors of turbans and gems and saris - Jaipur was built to be loved. "The City of Victory", was first intended to be "Sawai Jaipur", named after the boy Prince who commissioned it - Maharaja Jai Singh II - a warrior, astronomer and politician who reigned over the Mughals from 1699 to 1743. Today's Jaipur is pink, visually described as the city shaded with the autumn colors of a sunset.

    Visit Amber Fort. This majestic monument was created using elements of both Hindu and Islamic architectureand design. Murals, frescos and paintings depict daily life of a bygone era on walls also etched with carvings and decorated with mosaics and mirror work. Ascent the fort one way on 10 foot Elephant and return by Jeep!

    Proceed further on city orientation tour riding on a Vintage car, the erstwhile cars of the Maharajas and Royals. Begin with a photo-stop at Hawa Mahal if oftencalled the Palace of Winds and is a striking landmark. Nestled on the banks of the river Maghai and sequestered by mountains. The beauty is accentuated by its seclusion. Erected on a raised platform, it is surrounded by 66 subsidiary shrines. It has 1444 beautifully carved pillars, of which no two are alike.

    Udaipur combines real beauty with a picturesqueassociation of a great and glorious past. It stands in a valley, amidst green hills on the banks of the wide, steel blue Lake Pichola. On little islands in the lake, from the water's edge, raise marble palaces of pure white that glisten like fairy castles. Crowning the ridge in which the city clusters, along the shore of the lake is the palace of the Maharana.

    Today morning visit City Palace a conglomeration of buildings added by various Maharanas; the palace manages to retain a surprising uniformity of design. The paintings, mosaics, intricately carved ‘chhatris’ and of course the architecturally brilliant facade all contribute in making a visit to the City Palace a truly memorable experience. Continue to world’s firstSilvermuseum at Amar Mahal in City palace complex. Spreadover 7,100 sq feet, the museum will have hundreds of sterling silver objects on display, some of which are royal family heirlooms since 743 AD. Also visit “CrystalGallery”. Located at the City Palace, it has a rarecollection of Osler's crystal ordered from England by Maharana Sajjan Singh in 1877. Culminate the tour with a visit to Maharana’s Vintage and Classic car collection.

    Afternoon spend time with a local family. This is an opportunity to learn more about local life, Indian lifestyle, the traditions of home life and the importance of family in Indian culture, arranged marriages and of course, the food. Upon arrival, you'll be met by your gracious host and welcomed into their home. As meal is being prepared, your guide will provide an insight into Indian family life. You'll dine on a traditional Indian home-cooked meal which will be predominantly vegetarian and sure to tantalize your taste buds.
