A Day in a life of Mewar’s Village Life

Indian village life is a different world

There are approximately 500,000 villages in India, of which approximately 80 percent have fewer than 1,000 inhabitants. Settlements range from tiny hamlets of thatched huts to larger settlements of tile-roofed stone and brick houses.

It is in villages that India's most basic business--agriculture--takes place. The work ethic is strong, with little time out for relaxation, except for numerous divinely sanctioned festivals and rite-of-passage celebrations. Residents feel a sense of village pride and honor, and the reputation of a village depends upon the behavior of all of its residents. The idea behind the tour is to give an understanding of life in the Indian villages. The tour guide will explain to you their beliefs, their customs including the role of women, their superstitions, their religion and the problems that they face, and you will be able to ask questions through him.

On this tour, we will take you to one of the Village where you will experience the Rural Rajasthan in its most natural way.

Traverse the narrow by-lanes of Rajasthan’s countryside by cycles or your own Car (asper your preference) upon arrival, enjoy the visit of the Village & watch the villagers performing the day to day activities. Watch women around the community well fetching water buckets, washing clothes & carrying water in matkas (Clay Pots) on their head. You can join the group of Villagers sitting under some shady trees on in open courtyards discussing everything from world politics to local domestic issues.

A group of children sitting in an open air school is also an admirable site. Visit the school & spend some time with the children.

Later enjoy the beautiful Village market walk where you will see various small shops of sweets, grocery, fruits & vegetables & other utility items.

After market visit, we will take you a local house where you will spend some time in the Kitchen & have a cup of Chai.

Still in most of the traditional village house traditional methods are used for cooking & there is no use of electricity or Cooking Gas. The kitchens are usually open & food is cooked on Chulas (stove made of mud & bricks)

Later, we will take you for a Surprise Lunch! The location of the lunch setting is just breath taking overlooking the lake as well as the famous Sas Bahu Temple.

Enjoy the lunch where you will enjoy the traditional dish called “Dal Bati Chorma”. If you want, you can participate in the cooking and try your hand in making Dal Bati.

After Lunch, take part in farming and other activities. To truly understand how life is like in the villages, you need to do some village work! For example, you can plough the field, learn to carry water on your head.

Later in the evening, drive back with unforgettable memories of the Indian Village Life.
