We will start our tour visiting different Hindu temples of Udaipur which are quite famous in locals of Udaipur but not at all a part of any travel itinerary of Udaipur.

According to the Hindu scriptures (Vedas), there are many Gods and Goddess. We will take you to the most popular ones which are: Lord Shiva: The God of Destruction. Lord Ganesha - The Elephant headed God: The remover of obstacles and hurdles. Lord Hanumana - The Monkey God: The God of Infinite Power. Lord Krishna – The god of Love. We will also visit some more beautiful intricate carved temples and more.

After visiting different temples visit one of the famous Bohra community mosque.

This small but scattered Shia Muslim community can be found throughout the world, but is concentrated in the Subcontinent and Yemen as a result of missionary activities that began in the 10th century during the reign of the Fatimid Caliphs in Egypt. Known more commonly as the Bohras, a word possibly pointing to their caste-origins as Hindu merchants and peddler-traders before their adoption of Islam nearly a millennium ago. We will visit the most central and public place in Bohrawadi – the dargah of SayediLukmanji Saheb. For Bohras of Udaipur the dargah located in the heart of Bohra mohallas is like a village square, a common meeting place. Some people pay a visit to the dargah almost every day. No community function that is held in Bohrawadi is complete without a visit to the dargah.

The dargah is a small classical structure with an old-time, sacred feel to it. Its white dome and four minarets made of stone and lime sit on a square framework. The glazed white walls inlaid with coloured glass, depict intricate designs and ayats from the Quran in exquisite calligraphy. Its scalloped door arches and filigreed patterns exude an architectural charm that is almost forgotten today.

It is a historic building and represents the common heritage - a public place as well as a sanctuary of private memory. Every Bohra in Udaipur connects to this place in a very intimate, special way.

Later your Tuk – Tuk will take you to one of the oldest Church of Udaipur –

Christianity being one of the major religions of world, Christians are also found in large numbers in India, especially Southern parts of it. In Udaipur the first Christian missionary to settle down was Dr. James Shepherd, Scottish Presbyterian. He came in 1877 which is also marked as a start of Christianity in Udaipur.

Shepherd Memorial is the oldest church of the Udaipur, constructed in 1877 after the name of Dr. James Shepherd.

The church is located near Chetak Circle, now called Church of North India.

Construction of church is highly influenced with British style of architecture. Old stones used in building and high pointed pillars make it look like churches in Rome and its small windows explain in detail the story and period of the construction of church.

After visiting church, now its time for some community service.

Drive to one of the Gurudwarda (Sikh temple). One will never understand what exactly means sewa or selfless service at a Gurudwara, until they get a chance to experience it for real and reflect on it.

This tour will introduce you to the concept of community kitchen, called Langar, started by the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak. In addition to the ideals of equality, the tradition of langar expresses the ethics of sharing, inclusiveness and oneness. It is probably the largest attended community kitchen in the world. The food is freshly prepared and comprises of Parshaada (roti), Cooked Vegetables, Daal, Kheer, Karaha Prashad. The service is performed by the volunteers called Sewadars. This practice of selfless service goes beyond the bound of religion and serves to nourish the soul, creating a sense of unity and oneness. The experience of the Gurudwara visit will empower you to be one of the sewadars at the Gurudwara. In the role of a sewadar, experience the ultimate joy of giving. If you want to understand the importance of love, gratitude and the belief in humanity over and above divisive and undesirable categories of caste, class, religion, gender and disability, then a Gurudwara is the place to be!
